Honda CR-V 2.2 i-DTEC SR – Driven and Reviewed

9 Jul

Driving Torque

Honda CRV front sideWay back in October 2012, Driving Torque went on a first date. It was set on the beautiful shores of Loch Lomond with the dramatic peaks of the Trossachs providing a backdrop and the prospective partner in question was Honda‘s new CR-V. All went well, both parties seemed to get on and looked forward to meeting again. Last week, we did.

The venue this time was the, only slightly less pretty town of Macclesfield, complete with its very own forest. This was never going to be a holiday, however, both the CR-V and I were going to see how much we’d blossom under the strains of real life, kids ‘n all.

This 4th Generation CR-V was, by its very nature, always going to be best suited to a more torquey Diesel engine than a petrol and the particular model we have on test here is sporting Honda’s i-DTEC – it just makes…

Autocon Los Angeles 2013 Coverage…Part 1…

11 Jun

The Chronicles© - No Equal Since 2008 |

As many of you are aware, this year’s Autocon LA event was the final in a three-week block of shows. It’s not uncommon out here in Socal, as we experience a lot of different automotive events annually. This would probably mark the first time where three MAJOR events coincided with one another though. The Eibach Honda Meet is a must-go-to type of an event for me, and the Wekfest series has grown in monumental proportions in the last 5 years. It only makes sense to attend both. Normally in the event where there are three events in one week, I’ll usually pick one to not go to just so I can take a break. If there were three and both Eibach and Wekfest fell before, I would normally elect to skip the final one…unless it was Autocon of course. Autocon is the youngest of the trio and I believe in…

Must See… Falken Honda Advertorial From Conception To Reality…

11 Mar

The Chronicles© - No Equal Since 2008 |

The endlessly talented photographer Steve Demmitt shows us how the Falken Honda Advertorial comes together from beginning to the final product in a post he recently uploaded to If you guys remember, I was there that day covering the shoot itself and also posted a behind-the-scenes look HERE. Now you get to see how it all comes together through the eyes of the photographer himself. It’s pretty awesome stuff and just crazy to even think of how much work and time went into this one piece. Please check it out if you’re a Honda guy or just a photography enthusiast, you’ll learn a lot and it’s a rare opportunity to see how stuff like this comes together. Normally when you see an ad on a back of a magazine, you sort of just glance at it and toss the book down after you’re done reading what’s inside. Well, hopefully…

Driving Impressions: Honda Fit

25 Feb

finest hour motoring

Before the haters start lining up at the door, allow me to defend the B-segment “hot hatch.”  I realize that this is FHM and that we write posts about born-to-raise-hell RWB Porsches, soaking wet track days and fire-eating BMW DTM racers, but let’s not forgot that there is a whole world of cheerful Japanese, Korean, American (read Fiesta), Italian and German hatchbacks that would love to go dresser shopping with you on the twistiest road you can find.  Moreover these hatches are often affordable, have decent suspension, interesting styling, and great fuel economy.  A couple months ago we reviewed the Hyundai Accent and liked it, so a review of the Fit was a great follow-up.

Let’s start with the obvious: the Fit has been around for a while.  Nothing that I’m writing is going to be ground breaking, so instead I’ll focus on what surprised me about the Fit.

First, it’s…

The Chronicles 2013 Japan Trip…Part 12 of 12: We Visit J’s Racing and Meet Some Kanjozokus…

13 Feb

The Chronicles© - No Equal Since 2008 |

Alas we have finally arrived at the conclusion of our twelve-part Japan Trip journey. I genuinely hope that you guys have enjoyed the photos as much as I had taking them. This trip is definitely one for the memory books and I’m happy that I had the opportunity to visit Japan as well as spend time with some great friends overseas. I can’t wait to go back there and see what else that country has to offer. The tuning community is great out there but just the whole culture and environment in general was just an amazing experience. We were only out there for a week but it seemed like so much longer because we were able to squeeze so much into such a compact amount of time…

I’d like to take this moment now to thank everyone that was involved in our adventures. From the moment I arrived in…

The Chronicles 2013 Japan Trip…Part 10: More From Our Visit To Tactical Art…

6 Feb

The Chronicles© - No Equal Since 2008 |

Welcome back everyone… Today we’re going to continue the coverage from our visit to Tactical Art in Osaka, Japan. When we last left off, I had just about finished taking a tour around the shop and taking photos of everything that caught my eye. We were set to take off to dinner soon so I headed upstairs to their showroom to check  out what everyone was up to. The rain had started to come down pretty hard so the shop area was pretty cold. The showroom would provide some relief from the cold and I could also take a moment to take a seat and rest my bad back. Having to drag around my broken luggage everywhere from train to train had really done a number on my back and the cold was definitely not helping, especially since I was constantly moving around. It was also good to finally be…
